Rupali Ganguly CONFESSES she ‘didn’t do well in films because casting couch existed’ in Bollywood; says, “You are considered a failure”

Actress Rupali Ganguly is a well know name in the telly world thanks to her portrayal of Anupamaa in the Star Plus series of the same name. While the actress has also been part of shows like Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Ek Packet Umeed and more, she didn’t have a long career as a Bollywood actress. During a recent chat, the actress revealed the reason behind it.

Rupali Ganguly: Casting couch existed in Bollywood

As reported by Pinkvilla recently, Rupali Ganguly got candid about not making it in Bollywood and being labelled a failure due to it. Talking about why she decided to stay away from films and not pursue a career there, the ‘Anupamaa’ actress said, “I didn’t do well in films, and that was a choice I made because predominantly casting couch existed in the industry at that point of time. Maybe some people didn’t come across it, but people like me did, and I decided not to make that choice. So, you are considered a failure because you come from a film family.”

While adding that she initially felt small for not making it as a big screen actress, Rupali admitted Anupamaa changed everything for her. The actress said, “Thanks to Anupamaa, I feel very proud. The show gave me the stature that I always dreamt of. It has been a life-changing experience.”
